

BYRNE, Martha Nan, 90,passed quietly away in her sleep at her home in Dallas, Texas on February 20, 2016. Born in Alcoa, Tenn., on May 13, 1925, Nan was a longtime resident of Richmond, Va., and a member of Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Byrne II, Buckeye, Ariz., and William K. Byrne, Clinton, Tenn.; grandsons, Ford D. Byrne and Robert Kelly Byrne, both of Springfield, Mo.; three great-granddaughters, Allison Byrne, Natalie Byrne and Evan Byrne; one great-grandson, Daniel Byrne, all of Springfield, Mo.; and a sister, Bennie Handley, Senoia, Ga. Nan loved nature, especially birds, Native American culture, spending time with friends, going to garage sales, Homemakers Club and Bridge Club. She was generous, quick to smile, giving with a sweet disposition and a friend to all whom she met calling everyone “Honey.” She will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” J. Byrne; parents, Frank B. and Ennis (Reed) King; brother, Frank King; sister, Jo King Byrne; and a grandson, Daniel S. Byrne. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Westhampton Memorial and Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238.
