

Martha “Toolie” Keedwell Ligon, 70, of Richmond, passed away November 23, 2024, at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Lynn Ligon, her children Catherine and Jeffrey, her sisters Anne Randolph Keedwell and Elizabeth Keedwell Thrower, and her parents, Stuart Grant Keedwell and Lucille Harrell Keedwell.
She was born July 8, 1954 in Emporia, Virginia. She attended public schools in Emporia and graduated from Brunswick Academy. She attended Stratford College and graduated from New England College in Heniker, New Hampshire. She taught school for a number of years at Jackson Davis Elementary School in Henrico County where she was a much beloved kindergarten teacher and made lifelong friends.
Toolie is survived by four sisters: Shirley Smith and husband Tom; Cille Allen and husband Mike; Mary Small and husband Jim; Nancy Ferguson and husband Gene; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Thrower; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give thanks to special friend Ross Agnew, neighbors Robert and Monique Scott and cousin, Linda Bachman for their day-to-day support of both Toolie and Lynn.
Toolie was a long-term member of All Saints Episcopal Church at 8787 River Road, Richmond, Va. A celebration of life service will be held there on Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow. Contributions in Toolie’s memory may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church or to The American Liver Foundation.
