

Born on February 22, 1930 in Farmville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Mahal Blingo Driskill and the late Sallie Sublett Driskill. She retired in 1985 from the C & P Telephone Company after 38 years of service. After retirement she was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America, serving as President for three years. She was a dedicated member and leader of Bishop Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She was a devoted mom, grandmother, and friend who was loved by all. Her greatest joy was spending time helping her large extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by seven siblings. She is survived by two sons, Artimus F. Milam, III of Richmond, Virginia, and Dr. Michael G. Milam (Linda) of Lynchburg, Virginia. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Christopher W. Milam, Stacey M. Loulies (Shawn), Dr. Benjamin M. Milam, Nicholas J. Milam (Hart), and Katelyn E. Milam; and one great-grandchild, Wesley R. Milam. She is also survived by a very dear and special friend and companion, Thomas Shreve. The family wishes to give thanks to a very devoted caregiver, Bronwyn Austin.
The family will receive friends, 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A memorial service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Bishop Memorial United Methodist Church at 3826 Nine Mile Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Bishop Memorial United Methodist Church, 3826 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Virginia 23223.
