
Hager, Maxine Harman, 93, of Richmond, Virginia passed away November 3, 2014 at her present home of Lakewood Manor, Richmond, Virginia after a brief illness. She was born in Itman, West Virginia on March 6, 1921 to the loving parents Charlie and Zada Harman. She received her education in Pocahontas, Virginia. She received degrees from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and Radford College, Radford, Virginia. She was a retired teacher and worked for the Board of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia. She was an active member of Derbyshire Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Kappa Delta Gamma until her health did not permit. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roby S. Hager, brother, Charles L. Harman Jr. and sister-in-law Katherine “Kitty” Harman. Survivors include her son Richard Hager and companion Karen Bert of Richmond, Virginia; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Kimberly; and three great grandchildren all of Richmond, Virginia. One sister, Orpha Welch and brother-in-law Tommy, of Bluefield, West Virginia; two nieces that she loved as daughters, Sharon Ciccolini (Ron) of Bluefield, West Virginia, Tommie Jo Longworth (Rick) of Rocky Gap, Virginia; loving nephew Charlie (“Charlie Brown”) Welch of Roanoke, Virginia; nieces Kathy Flynn, Linda Mercer and Heather Harman, nephew Charlie Harman all of Lexington, Kentucky; as well as several great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be help on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Derbyshire Baptist Church Chapel, 8800 Derbyshire Rd., Richmond, Va. with the Rev. Jeff Raymond officiating.
