

Mildred "Millie" H. Chevalier, 85, passed away peacefully June 6, 2013. Millie was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Olia Harrell; her son, Steve Chevalier; and seven of her nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. Jack Chevalier; her daughter, Margie Chevalier; daughter-in-law, Dale Chevalier; brother, Rev. Paul Harrell; sister, Juanita "Nita" Whitehurst. Millie has two grandsons, Jacob (Lisa) and Gabe (Lina) Mallory and three great-granddaughters, Madison, Maylyn, and Camilla. Millie was born in Washington County, N.C. and spent most of her childhood on a farm in Chowan County near Edenton, N.C. She graduated from the University of North Carolina and Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Social Work degree. She worked with The Children's Home Society of Virginia and taught Human Growth and Development at VCC. She had a private practice for awhile as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Millie was a life member of The Tuckahoe Women's Club and The Hermitage Country Club. She helped form the Literary Guild of the Tuckahoe
and was a member of the Book Discussion Group at the Cedarfield retirement community. Millie was a beautiful person, not only physically, but intellectually, with the capacity to see and help others in need. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Henrico Doctors (Forest) Neuro-Vascular Units, the employees of Cedarfield and Hospice Community Care for their compassionate and expert care. Remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield on Wednesday, June 12 at 2:45 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
