Nancy Ellen Eberle Paddock of Richmond, Virginia died on December 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 84. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 29, 1930 to Richard Paddock and Mildred Lee Paddock (Clay). Formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy attended the John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Duke University (’51). She was an active alumnus of both institutions.
Nancy was a well-rounded world traveler. She was especially fond of the local history, architecture, and the varied plants and flowers she discovered wherever she traveled. She delighted her many friends with her stories and an engaging, often irreverent, sense of humor. She also loved and was loved by many dogs in her life.
Nancy was an active member of the community, a supporter of the arts, and a dedicated volunteer for multiple local charities and causes, including the Maymont Foundation and Shepherd’s Center of Richmond. She dearly cherished her membership and community at St. Giles Church.
Nancy is survived by Charles Edward Eberle III of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Celia “CiCi” Eberle of Quincy, Massachusetts, and Julie Lee Eberle of Richmond, Virginia. She also delighted in her grandchildren: Chas, Lauren, Claire, Kate and Rick.
The family extends special thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors at The Crossings at University Park, the Virginia Cancer Institute, and St. Mary’s hospital.
The family requests that donations be directed to the Maymont Foundation of Richmond Virginia in her name in lieu of flowers.
A service will be held on Monday, December 22 at 1:00 pm at Woody’s Funeral Home, Parham Chapel in Richmond, Virginia.
