Nancy Hawkins Neale Gatewood

GATEWOOD, Nancy Hawkins Neale, 91, of Richmond, died October 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cary Jarratt Neale and William Gatewood; and her parents, Herman Bruce Hawkins and Mary Lynn Hawkins. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Meade Neale; stepson, William T. Gatewood and his wife, Cindy; stepdaughter, Gail G. Gillespie and her husband, Gerald; and two grandsons, Dr. William T. Gatewood, Jr. and Christopher N. Gatewood. Mrs. Gatewood graduated from St. Catherine’s School and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Her memberships included, Tuckahoe Women’s Club, Boxwood Garden Club, Women’s Club, Country Club of Virginia, Virginia Historical Society, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and Second Presbyterian Church. She was a resident of Cedarfield, where she was also President of Resident Council for Health Services, and was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, in the Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Parkway. A private family interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
