MCGRATH, Norma Marshall, was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert E. Marshall Jr.; and second husband, John McGrath. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Duncanson (Bill) and Andrea Kerlin (Tim); and two sons, William Marshall (Cathy) and Steven Marshall (Dawn); and nine grandchildren, Will and Patrick Duncanson, Courtney Cui (Shawn), Adam Kerlin, Ryan Marshall (Ashley), Lindsay Nolan (Michael), Austin Marshall (Sarah), Garrett and Nathaniel Marshall; and three great-grandchildren, Eliza and John Marshall and Oakland Cui, with one on the way. Norma was an administrative secretary at St. Joseph's Villa and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was very supportive of the Haiti Twinning Ministry and also sponsored the Cambodian refugees through the church.
Norma was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. A sense of family was at the core of her being, and family not only consisted of her blood relatives, but included the many wonderful friendships she made along the way. Her "family" has ended up being so large that we do not have space to even begin to list all the names, but you know who you are. If you were fortunate enough to have an encounter with Norma, you would soon experience the joy, laughter and compassion that came along with her. If there is any legacy to be left by her, it will be that her love, care and compassion will be carried on through her family and all the other lives she has touched. She was a classy and wonderful woman who will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 10 from 12 to 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by Mass at 1 p.m. with a reception afterwords. A burial will be held on Monday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Haiti Twinning Ministry, St. Mary's Catholic Church 9505 Gayton Rd., Henrico, Va. 23229.
