

RAGLAND, Otho Camm, Jr., age 87, passed away on January 29, 2022, at his residence in Goochland, Virginia. Survivors include his devoted wife of 28 years, Nell Coleman Ragland; his two children, Vincent Todd Ragland (Wendy) and Kimlett Martin (Randy); two stepchildren, Harry Poston and Lynn Poston; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Kreyenbuhl and Phyllis Hague. Preceding Mr. Ragland in death was his first wife of 33 years, Claudette Redford Ragland; two sons, Stephen and Dana; two brothers, David and Roland; and sister, Lucille Fore. Born in Buckingham County, Virginia, in 1934, Mr.
Ragland was the son of the late Otho Camm Ragland and Margaret Coleman Ragland. He was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and represented the banking industry as an active member of the Ram Scan Program for many years. After surviving many bank mergers, he retired in 1993 as an officer of NationsBank, which later merged with Bank of America. During the Korean War, Mr. Ragland served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1953 to 1956. As a veteran, he was an active member of Post 84 of the American Legion, serving in several officer positions. He was honored with the Legionnaire of the Year Award. Mr. Ragland was a founding member of the 1814 Society, which raised money to build the Army Museum at Fort Belvoir, Va. His interest in aviation continued after service for his country and he enjoyed flying as a licensed pilot for many years.
Mr. Ragland enjoyed travelling and participated in many Elderhostel programs. He also took many bus tours within the United States and Canada. His many cruises included tours to England, the Scandinavian countries, Russia, Germany and Alaska. He also enjoyed his cruises to the entire Mediterranean Sea, Hawaii, Caribbean Islands and South America. Mr. Ragland enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, spending much of his retirement playing bridge with friends and teaching Uno to his grandchildren. Many mornings, he could be found eating breakfast at the local McDonald's with friends. He was devoted to his family and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren while doting on his great-grandchildren. He was very close to his stepchildren and their families as well, considering them as part of his own. He greatly enjoyed bragging about his loved ones to those who came around him. A loyal and dedicated member of Discovery United Methodist Church, Mr. Ragland served the past years on the Church Council, trustee, the building committee, the finance committee and was a delegate to the annual conference.

Remains rest at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where family will receive friends for a visitation on Thurday, February 3, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday February 4, 2022 at Discovery United Methodist Church with interment in Westhampton Memorial Park to Follow.
