Peter Joseph Donohue, 37, of Richmond, Virginia, died September 14, 2025, after losing a battle with mental illness. Peter was born on January 18, 1988, at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, to Hugh J. Donohue, Jr. and Patricia (Henderson) Noller, the youngest of their four children. He graduated from Mills E. Godwin High School and Bridgewater College, where he studied Psychology.
Peter loved his family and friends, heavy metal, and sharing random facts with any willing listener (“Fun fact! Did you know…?”). But he was quite possibly happiest out in nature—hiking, backpacking, and camping, particularly in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. He was lovingly quirky, staunchly loyal, and incredibly smart, but most of all he was kind to the core.
Peter is survived by his parents Patricia and William Noller, and Hugh and Laura Donohue, sisters Kelly Noah (Michael), Kimberley Tinacci (Jason), and Kristin Hicks (Timothy), his seven nieces and nephews, James, Carson, Mia, Charlotte, Ellis, Ruth, and Leonardo, and numerous bonus siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on October 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. Feel free to bring your favorite photo of Peter to share. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
