Robert Huey James

JAMES, Lt. Col. Robert Huey, 95, of St. Stephens community near Tye River, Nelson County, Va., died August 10, 2015. His wife, Alma Evelyn Watts James, preceded him in death on January 6, 2013. He is survived by his son, Richard R. James. Col. James was a career officer in the U.S. Air Force. He served as a bomber pilot in WWII in Europe including missions on D-Day and over Berlin and at diverse military assignments thereafter until 1967 when he retired from active duty. He moved to Nelson County and farmed until Mrs. James’ death in 2013. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. Stephens Baptist Church at the intersection of Rtes. 654 and 647 in Nelson County near Tye River Depot. In lieu of flowers, we invite friends and family to make donations to St. Stephens Baptist Church or the charity of their choice. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Fort Myer near Washington, D.C. upon a date yet to be determined. Arrangements provided by Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N.
