On Wednesday morning around 0600, Angels entered the Henrico Doctors Forest Campus CCU and told Stan about all the monster bass and minerals in heaven. He listened for awhile and around 1000 decided to join them. By his side was his wife, Gay, who felt the last grasp of his hand and heard his last breath. Hopefully, the angels won't kick him out as they listen to his never ending "fish tales" and corny jokes.
Stan and Gay celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 24. Gay was out of town, but Stan, always the romantic, had 36 roses waiting in her hotel room on Friday evening.
Stan was a native of Chicago and is survived by his wife, Gaynelle Maria Orlando Rudis of Henrico County, his mother, Lucille Petkelis Rudis of Matteson, IL and his brother, Jim Rudis also of Matteson. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Tony Orlando and his wife Diane, his nephews, Matt Rudis, Christopher Orlando and his wife Akemi, and Mark Orlando and his wife Tory and his niece, Anne Orlando Reese and her husband Frank. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
Stan was retired from Philip Morris USA after 34+ years of service in the QC department. His passions include gardening, fishing, rock hunting, and spoiling his 1 million plus girlfriends. He will be deeply missed by his PM USA family and breakfast club, his fishing buddies, particularly Phil, and his rockhound buddies. And, of course, all of those girlfriends (and they know who they are.)
The family would like to thank the County of Henrico Advanced Life Support Ambulance team and all the doctors, nurses, and technicians in the ER and CCU at Henrico Doc for all their great work and effort.
The family will receive friends 2-6 PM Sunday at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, where services will be conducted 11 AM Monday. Entombment at Westhampton Memorial Park.
Please omit flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 12400, Richmond, VA 23241 or Feed the Children, P.O. Box 272186 Oklahoma City, OK 73137.
NOW FOR THE REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF: Since retirement, Stan's attire has been a t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. All folks attending the service are requested to dress casually ¬jeans are preferred. Please join the family at the Rudis's home after the service.
Stan has Gone Fishing.
