Monday, January 2, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Brizzolara, Sr. and Edith Brizzolara
and his brother, George Brizzolara, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ann B. Brizzolara and his two sons, Duke
(Pam) and Tim (Susan); four grandchildren, Ryan (Dave), Casey (Dalton), Mark and
Lauren; two great-grandchildren, Leni and Joe.
Born and raised in Richmond, Tom graduated from John Marshall High School, but
missed his graduation ceremony after leaving to join the United States Navy
immediately after his last exam. He proudly served four years on the USS Beale. After
his discharge, he worked on bridge construction and then for NCR.
In the mid-sixties, Tom and his brother purchased the family business, Old Dominion
Brush Company (ODB), from their father. Tom’s strong work ethic and dedication had a
lasting impact on ODB. He expanded the small broom making facility in Church Hill into
a successful sheet metal fabrication center. Tom made many lifelong friends during this
time.
Upon retirement, his pride and joy was a piece of land next to Trice’s Lake in
Cumberland County where he worked for many years transforming it into the park-like
setting that it is today. He loved that his family and friends enjoyed this beautiful oasis,
a continuing legacy that will be cherished for years to come.
A gifted storyteller and loyal friend, Tom enjoyed the many groups of people in his life
including friends from his running days, his golfing buddies from Lakeside Park Club,
and his childhood friends, “The Little Rascals from Oregon Hill”.
A Celebration of Life for Tom will be planned at a later date
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodyfuneralhomeparham.com for the Brizzolara family.
