

BABITSKY, Walter Raymond "Ski," 81, of Richmond, born in Cleveland, died suddenly on Thursday, August 26, 2010 while enjoying something he loved breakfast out. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Isonza (Helen) Rapisarda Babitsky. In addition he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Babitsky, Leonard McGarvey and Stanley Barnicky; and his sisters, Geraldine Babitsky and Jean McGarvey. He is survived by two daughters, Christina M. Wood and her husband, Tom, and April A. Lambert and her husband, Tommy, and two grandsons, Kenny Smith and Dylan Lambert, all of Richmond; and his sisters, Lorraine Bedingfield of Houston, Texas and Patricia Wolf of North Ridgefield, Ohio. He is also survived by his best friend and brother-in-law, Joseph Rapisarda. A proud veteran, Ski retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer/Hospital Corpsman after 22 years in the Navy. After the Navy, he was employed by the Virginia Department of Taxation and then later by J.C. Penney. Skibo enjoyed golf, the Cleveland Browns, techno gadgets, good food, good drink, and a good time with family and friends. He lived life fully to the end.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Entombment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
