William Thomas Barr Jr.

William T. Barr Jr., 95, of Rockville passed away 6 June 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy and his brother Garland (Vernelle). He is survived by children Douglas (Mikki), Sandra Barr, Sharon Spalding (Phil), Dan (Susan - deceased) and grandsons Jason (Haley) and Brandon Spalding. He was the senior member of the Goochland Baptist Church and a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). He led a full life: meat packing, aircraft electrician, WWII combat with three presidential awards, well drilling foreman, recalled Korean war, auto mechanic, heavy equipment sales/service, launched early satellites, museum director, rocket lab superintendent, weapons test program manager and Legion of Honor by French President Macron in 2018. The family will receive visitors at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N Parham Rd, Richmond, VA 23229 on 14, June from 1 to 2 p.m. and funeral services will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.Burial to follow at Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA 23238 with reception afterwards at Goochland Baptist Church, 2454 Manakin Rd., Manakin-Sabot, VA 23103. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goochland Baptist Church.
