William E. "Red" Battelle

William “Red” Battelle, 96, of Henrico, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Frances Battelle; children, Diane Powell and Beverly Battelle (Wayne Weeks); step-daughter, Wanda Austin (David); grandchildren, Belinda Powell, Kirsti Powell, Wesley Weeks (Sarah), and Owen Weeks; step-grandchildren, Amy Martinez (Benito) and Jennifer Martinez (Benito); and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Baptist Church.
