

William Harvey Ferguson, 88, of Henrico passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2015. His daughter and beloved niece, Ramona, were at his side. He was a widow, his beloved wife Anne passed away in 1978. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Anne Ferguson and his numerous nieces and nephews. William (Bill to all who knew him) was born in Goochland, Virginia on December 14, 1926, he was the 8th of 9 children.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was a member of the American Legion Post 215 in Goochland, Virginia. Bill graduated from VA Tech in 1955 with a degree in architecture. He worked for the architecture firm of Wright, Jones & Wilkerson for the majority of his long career. He designed many of the buildings at James Madison University and William & Mary College including the building he was most proud of The National Center for State Counts on the campus of William & Mary Law School. Bill was a direct descendant of Patrick Henry and was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage. Bill enjoyed history, astronomy, the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He loved his family, friends and his country and was always there for them. As a good friend once said “Bill is a true southern gentleman”. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Family will receive friends Friday, October 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. where a memorial service will be held 11am Tuesday, October 13, with a graveside service at 1:30pm at Byrd Presbyterian Church, 2229 Dogtown Rd, Goochland. A reception will follow.
