William Bruce McCreary

Bruce was the son of the late William Harold and Amy Brandeis McCreary and the

widower of Ruth Desurne McCreary. He graduated from Rollins College and served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company and then volunteered at the Science Museum of Virginia for thirty years. He enjoyed

woodworking, reading, writing among other things book reviews for the Louisville

Courier-Journal, bird watching, growing gardenias, and vacationing with family at

Emerald Isle. Bruce is survived by his daughter Bonnie McCreary from Raleigh and

Barbara McCreary from Richmond; granddaughters Meredith Swindell (Russ), Adrian Standish (Trey), and Adele McCreary; and great grandsons Noah and Quincy Swindell.

A Masonic burial will take place at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Contributions may be made to the Science Museum of Virginia 2500 West Broad Street, Richmond VA 23220-2057 or to Crescent Hill Lodge # 456, 204 Vale Rd., Middletown, KY 40223.
