Alice C. Hamil

Alice Hamil, beloved mother, proud grandmother, determined follower of Jesus and devoted servant, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 11, 2016. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at Parkway Funeral Home 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS from 5:30pm-7:30pm and on Wednesday, July 13 at 10am at First Baptist Church Madison 2100 Main Street, Madison, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11am with interment to follow.

Alice was born in Canton, Mississippi, to Helen Speake McHenry & William Preston McHenry. Following graduation from Central High School, she attended MC and USM. Afterward, she enjoyed a 44-year career with HC Bailey Company as executive assistant to the president. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ralph, her parents and brother, John William McHenry. Alice is survived by two daughters, Rita Hamil Rutland (Jeff) and Leigh Hamil Stokes (Jim), five grandchildren, Zachary and Reagan Rutland; Bailey, Bradley and Presley Stokes, sister-in-law Glenda McHenry and many nieces and nephews.

In her lifelong service to Christ, she invested many years in the church nursery, prayer walked the Madison County Schools and ministered Christ’s love through praying with veterans at the VA. With a heart full of adventure, she was always ready to travel with her family, friends and church mission teams.

She took great joy in loving and serving her family, and we will greatly miss her. However, we have peace knowing that she is with her Savior and cherished husband once again.
