Mrs. Fairly was born July 8, 1908 near Hillsboro, MS, to William Ranson Burkes and Alice Leona Sigrest, the sixth of nine children. She graduated from Harperville Agricultural High School in 1927 and nursing school at the old Baptist Hospital in 1934. She went on to be a private duty nurse for many years. She was a resident of Jackson for over 50 years, prior to moving to The Home Place in Madison at age 97. Mrs. Fairly was preceded in death by husband, Jack S. Fairly Sr. and son, Jack S. Fairly, Jr. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Jean Anne Fairly of Madison; grandsons, John Fairly (Allison) of Madison and Jim Fairly (Jackie) of Madison. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Will, Jaycie, Reed, Avery, Joseph, and Brooks Fairly."Grandmaw" will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her wonderful home cooking and hospitality. She was a faithful member of Fondren Presbyterian Church. Services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 11:00am at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, followed by burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the Service.
