Billy was born on Dunleith Plantation in Leland, Mississippi on December 23, 1930, to Estelle Florence
Patterson Greenlee and Willie Calvin Greenlee. He grew up in Jackson and attended Central High School
where he excelled in track and field and football. He received a football scholarship from the University
of Mississippi that was postponed while serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.
After returning from service he went back to Jackson to work for Stuart C. Irby Company and graduated
from Millsaps College while playing tailback for the Majors. During his career, Billy worked in every division
of Irby Co., eventually serving as Senior Vice President upon retirement.
Billy was known for his quick wit and good humor. He loved his family and friends, golf, and Pickwick Lake.
He was a faithful and committed member of First Presbyterian Church for over sixty years. He married the love
of his life and best friend, Francine Lowe Greenlee, and recently celebrated their 58th anniversary.
He is survived by his wife and their two daughters, Alice Greenlee Nicholas (Mark), Christi Greenlee Horn (Steve),
five grandchildren, Taylor Nicholas (Katie), Reed Nicholas (Maris), Jamey Nicholas (Mary Hampton), Forest
Anthony, Mary Fran Anthony, and two great-grandchildren, Knox Nicholas and Stella Nicholas. He also leaves his
sister, Ann Greenlee Matranga (Al) and their three daughters and families, and dearly loved many friends and relatives.
