

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday from the Ridgeland Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday between the hours of 5 and 7 PM and after 9: 00 AM Monday.
Entombment will follow the service in Trinity Mausoleum.
Buck, as he was affectionately known, was born February 23, 1926 in Hazlehurst, MS. His parents were Willanna Bass King and Willie Earl King also of Hazlehurst.
Buck along with his brothers and sisters – Mike, Harold, Mary Alice, and Frances went to school in the Shady Grove community just East of Hazlehurst.
Buck joined the Navy near the start of World War II serving proudly in the Pacific theatre. As a gunner and signalman aboard the LST 120, Buck made 20 island landings including Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Tawara. After the war, Buck served for a short time in Japan before returning to Mississippi.
From 1946 to 1951, Buck and his family worked as farmers in Hazlehurst. From 1951 to 1967, he worked for W & S Construction of Jackson, MS as a construction foreman in the utility piping industry. In 1967, Buck along with partner Ray Collins formed Triangle Construction Co., Inc. in Jackson and continued his career in the utility piping business. The company remains in business to present date.
On June 21, 1958, Buck married the former Bobbie Leggett of Wesson, MS. They were married for 50 years until Bobbie’s death in 2008. “Poppa” ,as he was called by his grand children, will be greatly missed. His kindness, generosity, and always looking for the good in every person are the examples he leaves behind for generations to follow.
Buck is survived by his son Robert King, daughter-in-law Paula King, grandsons Bryan King and Scott King, and one grand-daughter Kellie King – all of Ridgeland, MS. He is also survived by various cousins, nieces and nephews.
