Cecile Browne, age 93, born in Dickson City, PA, died Wednesday. She was the wife of the late Leo Browne, the mother of Walter (Bobbie) and Graham (Pat), followed by 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also, she was the World’s Greatest Mother-in-Law.
In addition to being the secretary to Jack Mann at Wortman & Mann, our mother was well known for being the co-owner of Dipper Dan Ice Cream Shop. In 1981, she was named Secretary of the Year and in 2003 Volunteer of the Year by St. Dominic's.
After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Dominic’s, The Gleaners and MPB, where she read for the blind. She enjoyed serving others, she enjoyed the arts, and she loved chocolate of all kinds.
Impatient with unnecessary delays, some of Mother’s last words in the hospital were “Let’s get this show on the road.”
Our mother respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Volunteers of the Gleaners, P. O. Box 9883, Jackson, MS 39286.
Visitation will be at St. James Church, 3921 Oakridge Dr, Jackson on Monday at 1:00 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 at the church.
