

Charles Benton Ballard, 68, died Friday July 29, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital after a lengthy illness. The Funeral Service will be 11:30am Monday, August 1, 2011 at Madison United Methodist Church preceded by visitation at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland.
Benton was a native of Jackson and graduated from Provine High School with the class of 1962. He attended Mississippi State and graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in business. Benton enjoyed a lengthy career as the Mississippi manufacturer's representative for Liebert Corporation and as such was involved in installing cooling systems for the majority of computer and electronic systems in the state.
Benton was a proficient tennis player and scuba diver and had a non-pretentious approach to life that friends found endearing. He was a talented motivational speaker and Sunday School teacher at Madison United Methodist Church.
Benton was predeceased by his father, Clyde P. Ballard Sr. and mother Davie Mae Ballard. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Rebecca (Becky) Howard Ballard, daughters Michelle Barker, Renee Lewis (Walter) and Amy Surratt (Michael) and grandson Mark Lewis, granddaughters Molly Lewis, Cassidy and Cheyenne Barker and brother Clyde P. Ballard, Jr.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
