Christine C. Rhodes

A celebration of the life of Christine C. Rhodes will be held Friday January 27, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Burial will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Madison County, with Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS, in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rhodes, 89, of Jackson, passed peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

She was a resident of Jackson since 1961 and formerly worked as Accounting and Customer Service Manager for Redd Pest Control for 27 years. She was also very proud of her career as a Fashion Buyer with the Collins & Dunn Department Store in Lancaster, SC, which took her to New York City on a biannual basis.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie R. Newman of Jackson; son, Kenneth Rhodes and his wife, Lori of Nashville, TN; granddaughter, Kimberly Allison of Jackson; granddaughter Kelly Montalvo and her husband, Paul of Jackson; and great-grandsons J.J. Shipman, and Patrick, Rhodes and Rett Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, J. Earle Rhodes, Jr. of Jackson, and her brothers Truman, Hazel, Bill and Jack Connell.

She was also a longtime member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, where she taught first grade Sunday school for much of her decades-long service to the Lord.
