Clarence Leonard

Reverend C.L. Leonard, 89, of Ridgeland, Mississippi, passed away suddenly Monday, January 10. A native of Hattiesburg, he graduated from Demonstration High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Johnson, and entered the ministry in the Church of God at the age of 19. He was one of the youngest men to become an ordained minister in the church. Leonard served in numerous capacities during his ministry – evangelist, youth director, pastor, and field representative for World Missions of the International Church of God. He was passionate about world missions and served in this role for the last 30+ years of his ministry taking the gospel around the world. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Beulah Leonard, and several sisters and brothers. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 70 years, Brother-in-law Wayne Johnson (Louise), and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Clarence will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christway Church, 1501 Old Fannin Road, Flowood, Mississippi 39047, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The service can be watched via livestream at www.christwayms.org by clicking on "Watch Live."

Clarence will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
