

Born in Kansas City, MO on March 29, 1932 to Clarence Nash (d. 1948) and Evelyn Mae Nash Adamson (Robert), she became a sister when she was 10 (Roberta Leigh Adamson) and 15 (Thomas Adamson). She graduated from East High School and attended Business School where she met and married Samuel Stafford Irvin on February 29, 1952. They soon moved to central California, where they lived and thrived having 5 children: Samuel Stafford Irvin Jr (Michele)GA; Gregory Wayne Irvin (Lisa)TX; Paula Anne Irvin Usry of MS; Glenn Alan Irvin (Pat)FL; and Renee Marie Irvin Rees (Tom)PA.
They were transferred to Jackson, MS where they raised their children. She was very involved with volunteer work and her children. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for a decade. Leading a den maximum placed by her of 30 boys per year. Every boy wanted to be in her den because, although she ruled with an iron fist, she was very active and taught them things and took them places constantly. She was then a Girl Scout Leader for a few years while she volunteered at school where she was heavily involved in the PTO.
After the children were older, she returned to the work force working temporarily then fulltime at Western Auto Distribution Center as an administrative assistant then Allstate Insurance as a Customer Service Representative where she retired at age 65. She then volunteered with Mississippi’s First Lady Pat Fordice in every special exhibit that hit Jackson (i.e. The Splendors of Versailles, The Palaces of St. Petersburg, The Majesty of Spain, and the Glory of Baroque Dresden). She traveled with Trustmark Senior group and St. Dominic Senior Group and made many friends in those groups. She loved sewing, cooking, nature, animals, traveling, and new adventures.
She is preceded in death by her parents and step-dad; husband; and son Sam, Jr.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren (Spouse)(State): Alexandra Irvin (TN), Emily Irvin (GA) (Sam & Michele); Devon Irvin Hartman (James) (FL), Christopher Irvin (TX) (Gregg & Lisa); Trey Usry(Kristin) (FL), Nick Usry(Heather)(PA), Collette Usry Power (Seth) (MS), Samantha Usry (UT) (Paula); Nina Heitmann(Bernd)(Germany)(Glenn); Jessica Rees Hazur (John)(PA), Katherine Rees Long(Charlie)(PA), Amanda Rees Noullet(Alex)(PA) (Renee & Tom).
And 12 Great-grandchildren: Henry James Hartman, Cade Usry, Tate Usry, William Power, Elijah Power, Hailey Jane Heitman, Luke Collin Heitman, Sophia Hazur, Greer Long, Evelyn Long, Tommy Long, and Ripley Noullet to date.
Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157 on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at noon the same day, same location.
