Dorothy Jean Little

Dorothy grew up surrounded by family, mainly her beloved grandmother and numerous cousins in the Byram area. She graduated from Byram High School, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader.

She married Hubert Maurice Little, Jr. in 1958 and moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where he finished his Army career. After their first child was born, they moved back to Carpenter where they welcomed three more children.

After Maurice died in 1968 in a plane crash, she remained in Carpenter until her children were grown, and then she moved to Madison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her parents; her daughter, Cheryl Little; two grandsons, Blake Little and Dan Yates; her step-father, Joe Ladner; and her in-laws, Hubert and Cherry Little.

She is survived by her son, Trey Little and his wife Sheila; and her daughters, Torey Yates and Teresa Geter. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christy Gregory Lovelace (Kyle), Tanner Little, Nash Little, Stephen Yates (Sara), Lee Yates, Ashley Geter, and Jessica Geter; and great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Cruz, Journey, Macy, Skyler, Tatum, and Atticus.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caretakers, DeDe Almons and Jacob Smiley, who showed such great care and compassion the last year of her life.
