Earle was simply one of the good guys. I knew Earle through the IAHI and he was always a wealth of information and always had time to share his experiences with me. His legacy in the hospitality industry and community will be forever engrained in our minds and hearts. A class individual. Thanks Earle.

What a treasure that will be missed. He was one of the finest people I have ever known. My deepest sympathies, your loss is shared by so many.

To The Jones Family:
I only held one conversation with Mr. Jones when he was our school adopter at Raines Elementary in Jackson, MS but I found him to be a very friendly and caring gentleman. 

After many years of not being our adopter and I left the JPSD, I wrote asking him would he review my resume.  You know what he said? "Forward it to my secretary".  I was surprised after all these years he didn't turn me down nor did he ask me to tell him anything about myself to refresh his memory of who this person was to request such from him. I didn't send my resume thinking I had nothing in common with such a powerful man but I don't believe that made a difference to Mr. Jones.  

I know there are workers at MMI who really care about people. The world
lacks this quality with so many people. To have workers and co-workers who care about people at MMI
& Cabot Lodge, in my opinion was a reflection of Mr. Jones. We surround ourselves with people who have similiar qualities and values as ourselves. 

I pray God will give everyone who worked for and with Mr.Jones,especially his family the strength to carry on.

God wanted him back after sharing him with so many in MS.

Well done Mr. Jones, well done.

I am so sad to be far away and unable to attend services today. Earle was an extraordinary man and I was blessed to be with him at two Olympic Games -- Atlanta and Sydney.  His social conscience and activism were inspirational to me.

To the Family of Earle F. Jones,

I want to thank you'll for trusting me to take care of your family member. Over a year and a half I have have come to love this person you call your husband, father, and granddaddy. Not only did you love him, I love him as well. I was sadden when I got the news of his passing. I know he's in a better place. We both share one birthday together. On his birthday we celebrated it with new friends we met at St. Catherine's Village. For my birthday we had cake and ice-cream early that morning on Dec. 17. Me and Earle had so much fun together. Earle was just like a father to me. Sometime I would think that I was to over protected of him, but that was my job to take care of Earle. Within the time I had with Earle I gained two more brothers and a sister that I never had. I want to the family especially Mrs. Irene Jones, if theres anything that I can do for you at anytime please give me a call even if you just want to talk. I'm here if you need me. Once again I want thank Mrs. Jones, Earle 3rd, Cathy, and Nicholas for letting me take care of your husband and father. I will love you all forever....

Earle Jones and I served on the First American Bank Board together. He was a real gentleman and generous business man. We remember fondly the years of Thanksgiving Gatherings and the Christmas Cheese.

Some of you may already have heard but I wanted all to be aware that Earle Jones' dad died this week.  He had been suffering from Alzheimer's for a while.  I believe there was an obituary in the Jackson paper Friday with lots of detail.  I can't do Mr. Jones' life story justice but I want to relate a few personal sentiments.  First I'll mention that he was a very successful businessman and accounts of his life will be chocked full of his business achievements, boards he sat on, business honors and recognitions he received.  He was both successful and ethical.  Mr. Jones also had an enhanced social consciousness.  He used his position and influence to promote civil rights advances in MS during a time when this was both unpopular and sometimes dangerous.  In general he was all about fairness and doing the right thing and being responsible.  When you read of Mr. Jones' achievements and consider the time and energy that had to go into that aspect of his life it's hard to imagine that he would have anything left for family.  But he did.  He brought the same conscientiousness and energy (add love) to his role as husband and father.  I spent a lot a time at Earle's house growing up (which no doubt enriched his parents' life experience, not) and witnessed the love and care and guidance that he gave his kids and kids' friends.  He was engaged.  He was the driving force for our cub scouts den (Pack 30, Den 5).  He was all over that.  I can remember most of the words to a song he composed for us.  I also vividly remember a skit he designed for one our big pack meetings where we mimicked the band Herman's Hermits and lip synced "Henry VIII", wigs and props and all.  We were lip syncing long before Millie Vanillie.  Into our adolescence he and Mrs. Jones were always patient and understanding with Earle's and Earle's goofy friends' short comings and deficiencies, which were many.  I appreciate that.  Looking back I think one of the cool things about Mr. Jones was that he was affluent, connected, high-powered and at the same time he was "regular" and just a good good guy.  I am remembering Mr. Jones here but also must add that Mrs. Jones who survives Mr. Jones was right there in the mix and is an incredibly beautiful person that I love.  They enhanced each other to make an incredible team.

What a great guy.  i feel lucky to know him.

Count myself among those many rewarded by his kindness and friendship since our meeting in 1965.  He quietly gave unstintingly to his adopted state and was a model civic benefactor whose presence will be missed indeed.

So sorry to hear of Earle passing. My sympathy is extended to his family. I had the pleasure of working with him as a board member of Jackson 2000 for a number of years. His influence will remain in our community for many many years.

May the God of comfort be with you at this difficult time.

So many, many people will miss Earle with you.  His open and generous heart touched the lives of everyone he knew. His belief in me early in my career changed my life path. The Christmas cards over the years kept me connected in a small but meaningful way.
