Mrs. Hartley was born March 28, 1924 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Florrie Belle and Eugene Wyatt Lloyd. She met her future husband Prentiss M. Hartley, a Mississippi native, while he was stationed at Camp Butner, North Carolina where he was assigned to the 78th Lightening Division of the U S Army. They were married in 1943 and after his discharge from active duty in the Army they made Mississippi their home. They were married for 58 years until his death in 2001.
She was a member of the Pine Lake Baptist Church where she had many special and longtime friends from her Sunday school class. She was known for her great sense of humor and two of her favorite pastimes were playing cards and games with her many friends. She had a great love of family and was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Survivors include her sister Peggy Lloyd Harris of Durham, NC, daughter, Pat H. (Spencer) Bailey of West Point, MS, son Ron L. (Terry C.), Hartley of Brandon, MS. and daughter, Brenda T. (Scott) Bebout of Sapphire, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren Toya B. (Dan) Dalton of Knoxville, TN, Melanie H. (Benji) Hall of Brandon, MS, Kyle M. (Ashley) Thompson of Madison, MS, and Matt M. (Mallory) Thompson of Bozeman, MT. Also proudly survived by her great grandchildren, Hartley M. Thompson of Madison, MS, Abbey and Brendan Hall of Brandon, MS, and Robbie, Jackson L. and Caitlin P. McLaughlin of Manchester By the Sea, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Prentis M. Hartley, and three grandchildren, Justin Lloyd Hartley, Amanda Hartley McLaughlin, and Spencer Bailey IV.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 23 from 1:30pm – 2:30pm at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland followed by a family graveside service at Parkway Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:30pm.
