

Visitation will be held at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson on November 4, 2016 from 9:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
Funeral services will be at Galloway on November 4, 2016. at 11:30 A.M. with Reverend Joey Shelton officiating and Bishop Clay Lee. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are handled by Parkway Funeral Home and memories and condolences may be shared by signing the online guest register at www.dignitymemorial.com.
Elizabeth was born April 18, 1920 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. She is predeceased by her parents Nelson and Caroline Gouldman and her husband of 42 years William P. Hunter (Billy).
She lived a full life enriched by love for and received from her pets Candy and Cookie, her family, her friends, and her church, where she was a faithful member for 69 years.
She felt the presence of Jesus Christ in her life each day and believed that He gave her opportunities to honor and serve Him.
In addition to being a homemaker and raising three children she enjoyed a career as an executive secretary for well-known Jackson businesses.
Her experience as Coordinator of Volunteers for ten years at Galloway, and her training as a Stephen Minister led to her joining the church staff as Church Visitor, where she continued to serve for 17 years until her retirement in 2010. For the past six years through this September she led a monthly grief support group “Conversations with Elizabeth”.
She will be remembered as the first “Spotlight Lady” who for 25 years prepared the weekly newsletter “Spotlight on Galloway”, for mailing.
Survivors include two sons William P. (Lynda) Hunter, Jr. and James N. (Cherie) Hunter, a daughter Louise (Wayne) Johnson; eight grand children, Phillip (Robin) Hunter, Alex (Lucy) Slaughter, Audrey (Jim) Wilkirson, Christy (Mac) Maxwell, Kim Henry, Melissa (Joe) Naquin,William (Leslee) Hunter, Scott Hunter; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
