

Born on May 27, 1925, in Ludlow, MS, he was the son of the late David and Winner Brown Williams. Floyd began serving his country at age 18, and was a crewmember on a B-24 Liberator in the South Pacific. During his tour of duty, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
After his military service, he began earning multiple degrees from Mississippi College. In 1951, he was called back for military service during the Korean War.
He spent 37 years in public school education, mostly as an elementary principal in the Jackson area. During his professional career, he served on a number of boards and in civic organizations, including the State Text Book Board, State Counseling for the Aging, Madison County Election Commissioner and president of the Jackson Education Association.
He was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in Jackson and had been a long-time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and in recent years a “greeter.”
Floyd was a member of the Civitan Club, where he held multiple officer positions during his years of involvement. In recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Walter Scott Coffee Club and socializing with many of his friends on Saturday mornings.
When he retired from Jackson Public Schools, he worked at the State Capitol during session and as the Deputy Chancery Clerk at the Hinds County Chancery Court.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jackie Russell Williams. They have one son, Danny Collins Williams, wife Jackie, and grandchildren, David Collins Williams, Kristen Amarosa and Jason Amarosa. There are two great grandchildren, Bryona LeAnn and Keegan Collins Williams. He has one sister, Willie Ruth Lewis, in addition to numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, Highland Colony Parkway, on Monday, November 16th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held Tuesday, November 17th at Broadmoor Baptist Church at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Services at 11 a.m.
