Frank L. O’Keefe died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Hospice Ministries. Frank was born and raised in Jackson and attended Jackson Public Schools. After graduation he served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Mississippi State University and started his first job at Lamar Life, where he would meet his wife, Shirley. He went on to work for Lederle Labortories where he earned several Top Salesman awards. His strong work ethic and hard work would prove beneficial when he joined his brothers as Operations Manager of Southwest Drug Stores.
Frank accomplished many things in life but probably the most important was the hard work, integrity, and love that he taught his kids. For a man that lost his own father at 8 years old, he was the best father to them. He coached baseball and football teams, took them camping and fishing, and taught them the importance of academics. He always wanted what was best for them and made them believe they could accomplish anything they set their hearts to. As a long-time member of First Baptist Church Jackson, he showed them that a life committed to Christ was the most important commitment they could make.
Frank loved sports, exercising, and his grandchildren. Even when his body wouldn’t allow him to physically be at their activities, he was still cheering them on from a distance. He held their hands when they were small and they held his until the end.
To the staff of Hospice Ministries, you made a difficult time one of contentment for our father. You went the extra mile in showing Christ’s love in all that you did for him. We are incredibly appreciative of everything. Thank you for walking him home.
Mr. O’Keefe is survived by wife, Shirley Rogers O’Keefe, children Keith (Donna) and June Biggs (Greg), grandchildren Austin Biggs, Ashley O’Keefe, Hope Biggs, Kyle O’Keefe, and Alex Biggs and one brother Carlton O’Keefe. He was preceded in death by His parents Maurice and Grace O’Keefe, brother’s Milton and John O’Keefe, and sister Kathryn Adams.
Visitation will be at 10am Friday, February 19, 2016 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland with the funeral services at 11am. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, your donation to Hospice Ministries would be greatly appreciated.
