George W. Castle

George Willis Castle, Jr., 87, joined our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm, Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 in Ridgeland, MS at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Suite A. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, followed by burial at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

George was born Apr. 6, 1927 to George W. and Jane Castle, Sr., in Pinson Fork, KY. After graduating from Belfrey High School at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines. Following his honorable discharge, he joined the Army Air Force in 1945 and served during WWII until 1948.

In the early 1950s, he worked as general manager for Glaskow Insurance Company while attending Hill’s Business College. He then became a business owner himself in 1954. In the early 1980s, he started his career in real estate, first working for Allen & O’Hara, then H. C. Bailey, and finally as Vice President of Realty Management from which he retired in 2004.

George loved spending his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as gardening and golfing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Charlene Ruth Castle; daughter, Debbie (Steve) Young of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Scott (Jody) Castle of Metairie, LA; daughter, Brenda (Henri) Fuselier of Madison, MS; son, Bobby Shuffield of Long Beach, MS; son, Brian (Bridget) Castle of Diamondhead, MS; sisters, Doris (Lloyd) Calvert of Charleston, WV and Pat Yancey of Hedgesville, WV; brother, Jim Castle of Clinton, OK; and 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
