
Gray Bogle Hilsman passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2912.He was blessed to live to an age of 100 years. He was born to Mary B. Hilsman and J. H. Hilsman 0n December 15, 1911 in Atlanta, GA, the eldest of 4 children two of whom survive him.
He was educated at Lawrenceville Prep School and Georgia Tech. A gifted athelete he lettered in all sports and was a US Junior Tennis champion at age 16.
On December 21, 1939 he married Frances Cleveland and soon moved to Jackson, MS. An astute and competent business man and investor he was able to retire at a young age and pursue his lifelong love of water and yachting. Many of those hours afloat were shared with his friends and especially Sonny Middleton owner of Mobile, AL Hateras Yachts.
He was a 60 year member of First Presbyterian Church actively supported French Camp and other local charities.
He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Stocking and brother J. H. Hilsman MD; son Gray Hilsman MD (Roxanne); grandchildren Kristian A. Henry (George), Gray Gamble Hilsman; step-grandchildren Evan and Ryan Applegate; and great-grandchild Ashlyn Henry.
He will deeply missed by all who knew him and experienced his kindness and brilliance.
