Harold Nelson was born in Greenville, Mississippi on August 16, 1930. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1947 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Administration from Millsaps College in 1951. While at Millsaps College, he met his beautiful bride-to-be Mary Jane Wadlington. Harold and Mary Jane recently celebrated their fifty-ninth anniversary.
Upon graduation, Harold was a proud member of the United States Air Force. His adventurous spirit and sense of patriotism served him and his country well. Harold achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard. He developed a fondness for his co-workers there, and these friendships continued throughout Harold’s lifetime.
Harold loved everything about cars. He was the district manager for the Pontiac Motor Division and later the sales manager for Paul Moak Pontiac. Day in and day out, Harold treated everyone fairly and with a great sense of humor. Harold also owned and helped operate The Family Framing Place for over thirty years. He appreciated the time spent working with family and the relationships he formed with his valued customers.
Harold was a good and loving father. He is survived by his children Betty and Tom, his grandchildren Tracey Gose and Lauren Primos, and four great grandchildren.
Life is for the living, Harold often said. Those who knew him well take these words to heart.
