

Jacy A. Miller, age 47, passed away on January 26, 2022 in Madison, MS after a 3 year battle with Lung Cancer. She was born March 9, 1974, in Jackson, MS to Mendal Kemp and Rita Davies Kemp. She attended Madison Ridgeland Academy and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1993. She then attended Ole Miss and later graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998 with a B.S. in Psychology. She worked in her early career with special needs individuals and as a psych tech at various State of Mississippi and private psychiatric care facilities. After several years as a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, she took an interest in exercise and fitness, in particular Pilates and Yoga. She earned certifications in Pilates and Yoga and became the second PMA-Certified Pilates Teacher in the state of Mississippi. She immersed herself in her fitness as a career and became an avid runner completing several half-marathons. She opened her own Pilates studio in 2014 and it was her passion until 2019 when her illness forced its closure. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer December 26, 2018. During her fight, she did advocacy work as a LUNG FORCE Hero for the Mississippi branch of the American Lung Association. She traveled with her family as much as possible after the diagnosis, visiting several national parks. She documented her fight with a constant smile on her Jacy’s Journey Facebook page. Jacy is survived by her husband Ken Miller, sons Caden and Carson Miller, sister Ellen Kemp Dean, nieces Haley and Hannah Dean, Uncle John Davies and parents Rita and Mendal Kemp. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents O.W. and Mavis Davies and paternal grandparents Willie Wesley and Lena Mae Kemp. A visitation and celebration of Jacy’s life will be held February 5, 2022, at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association.
