Jeanne was born in Elgin, Illinois on November 24, 1953 to Beatrice and John Benson. She attended Delta State University where she met her future husband, Edward. Jeanne and Ed were married for 48 years and together had two daughters, Olivia and Megan. Jeanne was intensely devoted to her family, never failing to put the needs of her loved ones first. She was always there for her children, participating in and sponsoring numerous extra-curricular activities over the years, even serving for time as President of the PTA. Jeanne’s dedication to family became even more pronounced as time went on. Honey, as her grandchildren called her, could always be “counted on to be present” at their events and was their
biggest supporter.
Jeanne taught as an art teacher and cheerleading sponsor for many years, but her real gift was the way she connected with her students. Jeanne took a genuine interest in their lives and accomplishments, a sincerity of purpose that was reflected in her broad smile whenever speaking about them. Teaching brought Jeanne great joy and her students held a special place in her heart. She always remembered their names and always had a story!
Jeanne is survived by her brother, John Benson; husband, Edward Hendricks; daughters, Olivia Lipscomb (Parker) and Megan Berryhill (Andrew); and her grandchildren she loved so dearly- Matthew Lipscomb, Emerson Lipscomb, and John Davis Berryhill. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Beatrice Benson.
