

Jessie was born in Calhoun City (Big Creek), MS on Feb. 3, 1923, to Aimee and Ward Vaughn. She attended Central High School in Jackson.
Jessie married the love of her life, James Hugh Reed and together they had three children, Carolyn Ann Reed, James Floyd Reed, and Janet Reed Wilson. Her greatest joy resided in her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jessie is survived by her twins, Janet Reed Wilson and James Floyd Reed (Deborah); her sister, Maxine Spell; grandchildren, Matthew Vaughn Reed (Maggie), Krysten Wilson Hall (Tim), Sean Edward Reed (Morgan), and Courtney Reed Ford (Chris). She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Mae and Emma Scott Hall, Reed Ford, Ellie and Amelia Reed, and Sawyer Reed, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Reed; her daughter, Carolyn Ann; her parents; and her siblings, Coleman, Myrtie Mae, Louella, Pauline, and Grace.
A celebration of life will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway on Tuesday, June 13 at eleven o’clock in the morning. Visitation for Jessie Mae Vaughn Reed will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Monday, June 12 from five o’clock until seven o’clock, as well as on Tuesday, June 13 at ten o’clock in the morning prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Bryan Barksdale, Roma Peters, and Sandi Langston for their years of love and care and the staff at Hospice Ministries for their compassion and care during the last days of her life.
Memorial donations may be made in Jessie’s name to the American Heart Association or to the Mississippi Baptist Children’s Home, where Jessie was a resident during her childhood following her parents’ death.
