

John Owen Williams Sr., 76, of Jackson, after a wonderful life, went to be with his lord and savior on January 13, 2012, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson after a long battle with heart disease. Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Wright & Ferguson on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church Jackson, with a 10 a.m. visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
He was born Sept. 16, 1935, and was a lifelong resident of Jackson where he attended Power, Bailey and Central High School. He graduated from Ole Miss in 1958 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, served on fraternity councils as well as other school councils.
John served his country in the US Army where he became a rotary wing aviator and rank of Captain, before retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 112, and was active in the North Jackson Rotary Club where he served as president and all other offices and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He worked in the healthcare field all of his professional career, and retired from Baxter Healthcare on Sept. 11, 2001. He was also a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Jackson where he served as a life deacon.
He married Patricia Alice Partlow in 1957, and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past August.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas H. Williams and Walter H. Williams.
He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter Wendi Blair and her husband Tommy of Jackson, his son Owen Williams and his wife Anne of Arvada, Colo., and son Dan Williams of Jackson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kristen, Mollie and Lee Blair of Jackson, Shelby and Parker Williams of Arvada, Colo., and Sarah Williams of Madison.
“Pop” was a sweet man! He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved and adored his family very much. He enjoyed attending the sporting events and activities of his grandchildren and watching Ole Miss football games. He also enjoyed many walks with his dog Annie, and the two became an icon in his neighborhood.
His family would like to thank Dr. Rick Guynes, Dr. Jimmy Jones and the St. Dominic nursing staff for their exceptional care given to Pop during his illnesses.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Jackson, the Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation or Jackson Academy.
