
Juanita Stokes Molpus, 94, of Jackson went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Saint Matthews United Methodist Church of Madison, Mississippi, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Juanita was born November 26, 1927, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stokes. Following graduation from Bloomo High School in 1946, she married Homer Molpus, also of Philadelphia, Mississippi. They were the proud parents of four “well loved” children. Juanita was a wonderful homemaker and excellent seamstress, receiving numerous awards for her talent and creativity. Her family will always remember her for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Juanita was a member of the Woodhaven Garden Club and was known for growing beautiful roses. She combined her artistic ability with her love for gardening, creating beautiful floral arrangements for Sunday services at Aldersgate Methodist Church. Juanita was actively involved with the United Methodist Women, serving at Broadmeadow Methodist Church from 1979 to 1996. More recently, she has been a member of Saint Matthews United Methodist Church for the past 26 years.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Homer Burnette Molpus, and her son, Ronnie Molpus. She is survived by three of her children; Cynthia, Charlie (Deetsa), and Barry (Lori). She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
