Kennon “Kenny” Alfred Webb, 73, of Gluckstadt died at his home at 1 am on Sunday, March 7, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 19, 1947 to Ligon “Al” Webb Jr. and Mary Jo Lohr Webb, Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Brian Curley, and his brother, Joseph “Jody” Marion Webb. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Janelle Stephens Webb, his daughters, Scarlet Webb Kilpatrick, Kelly Webb Sellers and fiancé, Steve, Ashley Webb McCall and husband, Lee, and Dana Webb Ingram and husband, Shawn. Kenny is survived by his sister, Kathy Webb Kordsmeier; also his grandchildren: Willow Chargualaf (Derek), Sebastian Tendler, Lauren Barnett (Joshua), Bryce Curley (Laighla), Emily Curley (Titus), Gracie Curley, Lucy Curley, Dylan Alford, Mac Garrett Sellers, Morgan Janelle Sellers, Talan Lee McCall, Nolan Brook McCall, Brody Webb Ingram, Brinkley Rae Ingram; and seven great grandchildren.
Kenny was raised by his parents to be a devout Roman Catholic. He attended St. Mary’s and St. Therese’s Catholic Grade Schools and graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Jackson in 1966. Kenny and his family remained members of St. Therese’s Parish until moving to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gluckstadt in 1998. He studied, lived by, and was never afraid to preach the truth and beauty of his faith to family and friends. Kenny loved Jesus and His Blessed Mother with all his heart. We are certain that she lovingly carried him home to be with her Son Jesus.
In grade school and high school Kenny was an enthusiastic athlete who excelled in baseball, track, and football. He continued to be a strong supporter of St. Joseph High School and athletics. He is a proud member of the St. Joe Class of 66 including a close band of nine “brothers” known as the “Wild Lunch Bunch”, who have stuck together for more than 55 years since graduation.
After high school, Kenny served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he earned many medals and awards including the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, and a Combat Action Ribbon. His family and friends are very thankful that he survived the Battle of Khe Sanh, one of the deadliest sieges of the War.
Kenny’s passion for family and life-long friends could not be outdone. He was the ultimate “family man” who seldom did anything without Janelle, his children, or grandchildren along. Sunday dinner after Mass became a weekly tradition once the kids were grown and married.
Kenny’s passion for “cool” cars was realized as an active member of the Mississippi Classic Cruisers Club, winning prizes in several shows a year including the Scarecrow Cruise and Car Show, the Bankplus Racing Vehicle Extravaganza and the Rumblin’ in Ridgeland Car and Bike Show. He had a special group of car buddies who enjoyed going to shows together and sharing lunch.
Kenny was known for his hard work which he instilled into his children and grandchildren. He was a successful and much sought-after self-employed carpet installer for almost 35 years. Kenny was a perfectionist in everything he did, especially his cars, his yard, and even housework when he retired.
The family would like to thank Jackson Oncology and Baptist Health for their compassionate care of Kenny during his illness. We are also grateful to his caregivers, Nita and Debbie, of Sta-Home Hospice who provided excellent care in his final days at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
