Kimble C Sutherland

Kimble C Sutherland, 79, of Madison went home to be with the Lord on the 19th of February at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland after a lengthy illness with lymphoma. Kimble was born in Philadelphia, MS to Ab and Claudine Coleman Sutherland, on October 28, 1938. He married Glenda Beall on March 3, 1963. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this March.

Kimble was a graduate of Provine High School and attended Hinds CC and Mississippi College. Kimble began his career at the Clarion Ledger as a newspaper photographer and retired from MDOT as Director of Public Affairs.

Kimble was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Special Education Sunday School. He was currently an active member of First Baptist Madison. Kimble was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf, reading, and traveling. His sense of humor was a gift that brought joy and laughter to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, a son, Clay Sutherland (Sabrina), a daughter, Ashley Dugas (Matt), six grandchildren: Nick Sutherland (Amanda), Leslie Gully (George), Connor Sutherland, Natalie Bonds, Coleman Bonds, and Matilda Dugas, and two great-grandchildren: Marlie Sutherland and Griffin Gully. He was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Shea Sutherland, his parents, and two brothers, Ab and Claude.

Visitation will be at Parkway Funeral Home Wednesday, February 21st from 5-8 PM. A brief visitation will held prior to the Funeral service at FBC Madison on Thursday, February 22 at 11 AM.

Kimble’s family would like to thank all the prayer warriors who have loved and supported him and his family though this illness and the staffs of St. Dominic Hospital, especially Dr. Bobby Graham, and Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland for their exceptional and loving care.
