He was born May 5, 1918, in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Jocie Lee Guthrie and John Dexter McNair. He met Katherine Earline Barham in second grade and they married May 1, 1937, and were married for 75 years.
They moved from Philadelphia to West Texas in 1944, where he worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company for 40 years. After retiring in 1983, they returned to Mississippi to help take care of family.
Leslie loved his family, his church, and his neighbors. He served as Deacon in the church. He was a Mason and Eastern Star. He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Earline; his daughter, Pat Palmer, sons, Les McNair and Bo McNair, grandson Billy (Sarah) McNair and a granddaughter, Heather McNair.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. McNair's memory to Trace Ridge Baptist Church, Ridgeland, MS.
A celebration of life service will be held at Parkway Funeral Home Ridgeland, MS on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10am. Burial will immediately follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
