Linda Covington Howard

Linda Covington Howard of Ridgeland, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 3, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at the age of 82. She was born on January 26, 1943, in Jackson, MS.

Linda lived a beautiful life marked by faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. She cherished her quiet mornings spent in prayer and Bible study, and she carried a gentle, steadfast devotion to Jesus that shaped the way she loved and served others. Her life was a testimony of grace, kindness, and a heart anchored deeply in her Savior.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lamar Howard; her daughter, Lisa (John) Petree; her son, Trey (Trace) Howard; and her five grandchildren, Lindsey (Ty) Tarlton and Mary Noble Howard of Ridgeland, MS, and Grace, Julia, and Jack Petree of Eads, TN. She is also survived by her brother, Russ (Debbie) Covington of Maryville, TN. She is preceded in death by her sister Cheryl Climer.

Linda graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, MS. She attended Delta State University and The University of Mississippi, earning her degree in Special Education. She went on to teach elementary students in Leland and Greenville, MS, at St. James and Greenville Christian.

Linda was an active member of United Methodist Church in Greenville for many years, faithfully serving and building relationships that blessed her deeply. Once she moved to Ridgeland, MS she attended Madison Methodist Church in Madison, MS. In her retirement years, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and relaxing at Lake Traderhorn in McCarley, MS, surrounded by family, friends, and the views of nature she loved so much.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, and a woman whose faith quietly touched countless lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, December 9th. Rev. Linda Rickman will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, located at 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi, 39157, on December 9, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 am.
