Marlee Angelo

Marlee was born on August 28, 2001, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Maribeth Wolfe and Jay Angelo. She graduated from Madison Central High School in 2020 and earned an Associate’s degree in criminal justice at Northwest Mississippi Community College on a full academic scholarship. At the time of her passing, Marlee was a senior at Mississippi State University, working toward a bachelor’s degree in marketing on a full academic scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa, while working full-time at the Starkville Cafe.

Marlee was a kind, caring, funny and inquisitive child. She was involved in many activities, including soccer, softball and swimming, where she had amazing teachers and coaches who helped mold her into the young woman she was becoming. Marlee was blessed with amazing babysitters/mentors, including Laura Walcott Tackett and Hannah Pierce Sawyer. Marlee loved the Lord, and Ryan and Hannah Sawyer at First Independent Methodist Church were instrumental in her Christian growth. Marlee was an active member of the youth group and went on a mission trip to Belize.

One of Marlee’s favorite activities was hanging out with neighborhood friends and swimming in Mrs. Gloria Weathers’ backyard pool with her sister, Maddie. Additionally, Marlee loved baking Christmas cookies with her grandmother “Sug” and making chicken spaghetti with her “Nana”.

Marlee is survived by her parents, Maribeth Wolfe Wilson (Jason) and Jay Angelo (Laura); sister, Maddie Angelo; maternal grandparents, Katherine and Bill Wolfe; paternal grandparents, Jo Gayle Wiltcher (James) and Fred Angelo (Lynn); as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A service to celebrate Marlee’s life will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
