Melanie Anne Chaney Sprowles

She was born in New Orleans, LA, on April 29, 1956 to Dorothy and Haywood Chaney. She attended Forrest Hill High School and graduated in 1974. She then attended Hinds Junior College and completed the Surgical Technology Program.

Melanie married John William Sprowles, Jr. on June 28, 1980, and they had two children William and Melissa. She worked as a Surgical Technologist at Jackson Bone & Joint Clinic and Womans Hospital before becoming a full time homemaker. In the early years of their marriage, Will and Melanie enjoyed traveling across the United States with friends on the Worth Softball Team and later years spending time with their children and grandchildren. They attended First United Methodist Church in Clinton, MS.

Melanie is survived by her husband John “Will”, son William Sprowles (Bailey), daughter Melissa Zepeda (Joseph). Grandchildren Madelyn, Jase, and Brynn. Sister Brenda Schlapkohl, brother Rick Chaney. Preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at Clinton Methodist Church (formerly FUMC) on Monday, September 16th, 2024. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
