

Miriam “April” May Cooper, 90, passed away Thursday February 9, 2017 at the Blake at The Township in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 1-3pm Sunday February 12, 2017 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00pm.
April was born April 14, 1926 in Lombardie, MS to parents, James (Jim) and Gladys (Jack) May. She was a graduate of Florence High School and attended Millsaps College. She spent most of her adult life in the Greenwood and Jackson area. She always considered the Delta as her home. She retired from the MS Employment Security Commission after 19 years of secretarial service.
She was a charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Greenwood and a current member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.
April was known for her good sense of humor, and being a good duplicate bridge player.
Survivors include her daughters, Penny Pond Walker (Charles) and Peggy Pond Alexander; son, Jay Pond (Susan); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Sonny May (Anita); and sister, Rita May Simmons (Harold).
The family is thankful for all the many caregivers at The Blake at Township, Hospice Ministries and her sitter Pat McDonald, for their exceptional care.
The family requests that memorials be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Rd, Jackson, MS 39211
