Mollie was born in Corinth, MS on June 30, 1952 to Florence and Amo Maness. She attended Corinth High School and the Mississippi State College for Women where she gained her bachelor’s in Speech Pathology. It was here that in 1978, at a social club meeting, she met a lifelong friend and companion, Linda. She later attended Mississippi College where she gained a Master’s in Hearing Communications. She worked as a speech pathologist and taught at many different schools in and around the metro area until her retirement. Upon her retirement, Mollie diligently cared for her mother until her death. Mollie was a proud member and active of Christ United Methodist Church. In 2012, after suffering a stroke, Mollie met her second companion who she affectionately named “Yogi”. She adored her dogs referring to them as her “fur babies”. Never was there a person to encounter Mollie that she did not make feel loved and welcomed.
Mollie is survived by two special companions Linda C. Elliott, Vertena “Yogi” Shoto and numerous cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Florence Evelyn Gooch and Amo Maness.
