

Oliver N. King, 91, died November 30, 2016, after a brief illness. Born in Jefferson Davis Co on Sept. 25, 1925 he loved the Lord, his family, and his church. He especially enjoyed time with his grandsons and great-grandchildren. He retired from the VA Med Center after 33 years of service and was active in the Credit Union. He actively served the credit union for over 50 years and was serving on the Board of Directors of Magnolia CU at the time of his death. He served at the local, statewide, and national level. He was inducted into CU Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Credit Union House in Washington in 2012. He served as deacon and in numerous leadership positions at Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Molly Deen and Carlie King, Jr., step-father, Joe Walker, his beloved wife of 59 years, Diane King, brothers Gerald King, Ray King, Billy King, Charles Walker, Carl Walker, Lester Walker, and sisters Louise Robinson and Olene Garris. He is survived by his children Sylvia Haver (Sam), Peggy Whitmire (Don), Doug King (Ginny), brother Ed Walker (Falba), sister-in-law LaVerne Walker, grandsons Eric Haver (Kathryn), Matthew Haver (Heather), Adam Haver (Aleasha), Brian Whitmire, Paul Whitmire and Mark Whitmire, and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday December 2, 2016 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland and 9-10am Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday at the church, with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
